SOYOUNG PARK
Ballet
So Young Park, from South Korea, started dancing at the age of 10. She moved to the States in 2006 after she was accepted to State University of New York-Purchase College: Conservatory of Dance where she earned her B.F.A in Dance Performance in 2010. She has had the opportunity to perform in works by many choreographers including Aranxta Sagardoy, Natalie Desch, Bettijane Sills, Rosanna Seravali, Lane Gifford, and Cynthia Fuller-King, and during the summer she also trained at CPYB and learned and performed in many repertories at Paul Taylor Dance Company, Mark Morris Dance Group, Doug Varone and Dancers, and Manhattan Youth Ballet where she received a scholarship. She has studied in Burgos, Spain, performing José Limón’s Missa Brevis and Aranxta Sargardoy’s new work at the Teatro Principal. In the three years since graduation she has taught ballet and contemporary dance and choreographed for several groups of students of every level and ages in both New York and Seoul (South Korea). She holds her M.F.A. in Dance at New York University- Tisch School of the Arts with the help of a Tisch school of the Arts scholarship where she has had a privilege to perform in Ori Flomin’s new work.
