Nicco Mazziotto, an accomplished cellist, embarked on his musical journey with a deep commitment to achieving excellence across orchestral, chamber, and solo performances. His formal education began with a Bachelor of Music in Performance from SUNY Purchase, where he studied from 2016 to 2020 under the guidance of Joseph Kimura and Julia Lichten. He continued his studies at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music (MSM), earning a Master of Music in Cello Performance in 2022, studying with Julia Lichten and David Geber. These formative years shaped his technical proficiency and artistic voice, preparing him for a promising career.

Mazziotto’s passion for teaching has been a core aspect of his musicianship. He has maintained a private cello studio at Long Ridge Music Center for over four years, inspiring the next generation of cellists through his instruction. His dedication to sharing his knowledge complements his performance career, where he has consistently showcased his talents across various prestigious platforms.

His performance experience is extensive and varied. Since 2022, Mazziotto has been a section cellist with Symphony in C, performing under renowned conductors like Hannu Lintu. As principal cellist, he led the orchestra at the Music Academy of the West under the baton of Speranza Scapucci in August 2022. He also performed the Schubert Cello Quintet alongside esteemed musicians such as Martin Beaver, David Geber, and Karen Dreyfus at the same academy. Earlier, he served as principal cellist under Leonard Slatkin at MSM in October 2021, and his chamber music accomplishments include a winning performance at the Fuchs Chamber Music Competition Winner’s Concert in 2020.

Mazziotto’s festival appearances have further enriched his artistic development. He has participated in some of the most revered summer music programs, including the Tanglewood Music Center (2024), Taos School of Music (2023), and Music Academy of the West (2022). His chamber music training was bolstered by attending the Ashkenasi/Kirschbaum Chamber Music Seminar at the Heifetz Institute in 2021, and he honed his craft at other prestigious programs such as the Meadowmount School of Music (2019), Bowdoin International Music Festival (2018), and Brevard Music Center (2017).

With a wealth of experience in both performance and teaching, Mazziotto is eager to continue his career as a professional musician, contributing to the classical music community through his artistry and dedication. His journey reflects not only his technical mastery of the cello but also his commitment to musical expression and education, ensuring that his impact resonates both on and off the stage.
