Ruihan Zhang began learning the piano at the age of 5. She is a graduate of the Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Christopher Zhong from 2008-2016. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rutgers University. She also accomplished her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Manhattan School of Music. She is granted a full scholarship for all of these programs.

Ruihan has performed repertoire ranging from George Frideric Handel and Franz Schubert to John Corigliano. She has given solo concerts in many important venues in the United States and China, including Kauffman Concert Hall, Steinway Hall, and Shanghai Oriental Art Center. She performed Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 with Youth Orchestra of Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music in Shanghai Concert Hall.

Ruihan won a variety of competitions. She won the 2nd Prize of Asian Youth Music Competition, the 1st Prize of the Yangtze-River Cup Piano Competition, the 1st Prize of Beethoven Piano Competition, the 1st Prize of Across-Pacific Piano Competition, etc.
