Violin
Born in Qingdao, China, Gui began studying the violin at the age of four. She was a pupil of Yuxia Liu, the concertmaster of Qingdao Symphony Orchestra. Gui attended Manhattan School of Music since 2014, and received her Bachelor and Master degree with Lucie Robert. She was a recipient of Selma W. Berkman Memorial Scholarship. Gui received a Professional Studies Diploma from Mannes School of Music in 2019, and is currently pursuing her second master degree in Orchestral Performance with Glenn Dicterow, Lisa Kim and David Chan.
Gui Joined the first violin section of New Haven Symphony Orchestra in June, 2022. Previously, she was the concertmaster of Manhattan School Symphony Orchestra, Mannes School orchestra. She also was a member of Camerata’s NY orchestra 2018-2019 and a member of Charlottesville and University Symphony orchestra 2012-2014.
Gui was a prize winner for the New York Artists International Competition in 2017 and a silver medal holder of the First National Violin Grade Examination Competition for Excellent Players in the highest grade. From 2014 to 2019, Gui has attended Texas Music Festival, National Orchestral Institute, Orford Academy and Music Alps. She performed as an orchestra musician in Carnegie Hall and Kauffman Center for Performing Arts. She also performed in solo and chamber masterclasses given by Glenn Dicterow, David Kim, Stephen Rose, Andrzej Grabiec, James Dunham and Levon Chilingirian.
