Jiayi Gao is a dedicated educator and accomplished singer based in Rego Park, New York. They hold a Master of Music in Classical Voice from the Manhattan School of Music, which they completed in 2023. Prior to this, Jiayi earned a Bachelor of Music in Musicology (Music Education) from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China, in 2019.

Jiayi’s teaching experience is extensive and varied. They currently teach piano, vocal lessons, and chorus in New York. Their teaching includes preparing students for ABRSM practical piano examinations from Grade 1 to 7, performance piano exams up to Grade 5, and providing piano accompaniment for ABRSM flute tests at Grades 2 and 5. Jiayi is also involved in teaching private vocal lessons and conducting chorus.

Previously, Jiayi taught at Dongchang High School in Shanghai, where they led four classes of 50 students each, focusing on chorus intonation and mobilizing students’ singing mood. They also provided after-school musical theater instruction and one-on-one singing coaching, in addition to teaching basic music theory.

Jiayi has been recognized for their contributions in various musical roles. As a chorus conductor and voice tutor for the Chorus Competition of East China Normal University in 2016, Jiayi led a chorus of over 100 members to win the Second Prize for the School of Chemistry and Engineering. They are known for their patience with amateur students and their passion for teaching.

In addition to their teaching roles, Jiayi has been awarded several honors and accolades. They received the International Competition of Music and Arts <China Award> for Academic Vocal, were named an Outstanding Graduate of Meng Xiancheng Academy, and received multiple scholarships and awards from East China Normal University, including the Outstanding Student Special Scholarship and The Second Prize in Chorus for the School of Chemistry and Engineering.

Jiayi possesses a diverse skill set, including classical voice singing, proficient piano skills, Chinese classical dancing, and chorus conducting. They also have a high level of certification in Chinese official language tests and hold a Certificate of Psychological Consultant issued by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Jiayi is known for their enthusiasm, compassion, and empathy, qualities that enhance their teaching and performance.

Their performance experience includes conducting a notable performance at Carnegie Hall, NYC, in 2024.
